A national student music composition contest, which was held as part of the 1967 centenary project hosted jointly by students at the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, and the Banff School of Fine Arts. The winning piece was performed at a concert that was the climax of a week-long program of Canadian and contemporary music. Held in Edmonton, the program was organized by Violet Archer.
